August 7, 2009, Newsletter Issue #209: The Key to Successful Electronic Commerce

Tip of the Week

Have you have been thinking about expanding your small business to offer an electronic commerce option? If so, you'll want to make sure you position your new venture for success. To develop a successful electronic commerce site, you should:
Offer better customer service than you do at your brick and mortar store. Customer service is extremely important because you are convincing potential buyers that can't see you or your product in person to shop through your site.Make sure there are several ways to contact you on your site. Seeing that they can write a letter, send an email, or make a phone call if something goes wrong reassures customers much more than having the only point of contact be an email address. So have your contact information (Phone Number, Email, Live Chat link) located somewhere on every page of your storefront. At minimum, you should have a very visible link for "Customer Support" on every page.
